Kfar Saba: a fixed day per street (some streets changed on 4.1.2026); put out from midday the day before only. Modiin-Maccabim-Reut: only on the days set for your area, per the municipal table. Everywhere: exceptional quantities are coordinated in advance with hotline 106; Beer Sheva and Holon explicitly forbid put-out on Fridays, Saturdays and holiday eves, and in the other cities waste goes out only on the day or evening set for your zone. Details and the municipal source for each city follow (Rishon LeZion checked street by street in October 2026; Tel Aviv and Beer Sheva re-verified September 2026).
Garden Waste vs. Bulky Waste
Garden waste: branches, leaves, grass and pruning trimmings: tie in closed bags or cut to a reasonable carrying size. Bulky waste / scrap: large, dry household items: furniture, mattresses, refrigerators and appliances, cabinets. Neither category includes construction waste, which is handled separately (private removal / a licensed site).
Garden-Waste & Bulky-Waste Pickup Days by City
All 14 cities in this guide now run fixed days, by street, neighborhood or zone: you put waste out the evening before or on the set day, and the city collects. Advance booking via hotline 106 remains for exceptional quantities, say the contents of an apartment or a major pruning. Below is the detail for each city, based on the municipal websites (Rishon LeZion checked street by street in October 2026, Tel Aviv and Beer Sheva re-verified in September 2026, the rest in August 2026; exceptions noted).
Tel Aviv-Yafo: Fixed Zone Days, Sunday + Tuesday or Monday + Wednesday
Since 2 February 2025 Tel Aviv-Yafo has fixed put-out days for garden waste and exceptional waste, replacing the advance-booking model it used before. The city is split into two zones on an official map: the blue zone puts out on Sundays and Tuesdays, the yellow zone on Mondays and Wednesdays, between 06:00 and 18:00 only. Per the municipal map (as of September 2026), blue includes, among others, Neve Sharett, Tzahala, Ramat HaChayal, Hadar Yosef, Neve Dan, the Old North, Kerem HaTeimanim, Neve Tzedek, Yad Eliyahu, Kfar Shalem, Nir Aviv, Old Jaffa, Ajami and Givat Aliya; yellow: Ramat Aviv, Neve Avivim, Afeka, Kochav HaTzafon, Tochnit Lamed, Bavli, the New North, Nahalat Yitzhak, Bitzaron, Florentin, Shapira, Kiryat Shalom, Neve Ofer, HaTikva, North Jaffa, Jaffa Gimel and Dalet. Check your street's exact day by street name on the "street cleaning and waste pickup" page of the municipal website or in the Digitel app. Exceptional waste, in the city's definition: furniture, scrap, electronic waste, garden waste and anything that does not fit in the bin; leaves, grass and weeds in well-sealed bags, no glass or sharp objects. Putting waste out on a day other than your put-out day: a ₪475 fine, in the city's own words.
Jerusalem: Fixed Days by Neighborhood
In Jerusalem pickup runs on fixed days by neighborhood, per an official table on the municipal website. Put waste out from 19:00 the evening before pickup day until 10:00 on the morning of pickup day. Hotline 106 for exceptional quantities. Verified against the municipal site in July 2026 (the site blocks automated checks), confirm your neighborhood's day in the official table.
Haifa: Fixed Days by 6 Zones, Then Report to the Hotline
Haifa is divided into 6 municipal zones with fixed put-out days; collection happens the following day. For example, per the municipal site: the Carmel zone (Ahuza, Carmelia, Vardia and more) and Hadar: put out on Sundays and Wednesdays; western Haifa: Mondays and Thursdays; the Bay and Kiryat Haim: Mondays and Wednesdays. Important: after putting waste out you must report to hotline 106 so the request enters the work schedule. As of October 2026 the page also lists the Neve Sha'anan zone (Neve Sha'anan, Ramat Sapir, Ramat Alon, Yad Lebanim and more): put out on Tuesdays and Thursdays, collected Wednesdays and Fridays, and the Ramot Carmel zone (Denya, Ramat Golda, Ramat Begin, Romema and more): put out on Sundays and Wednesdays, collected Mondays and Thursdays. Branches, cut to 1.5 m max and pile together; light pruning and grass, in closed bags; place at the sidewalk edge, away from power lines. Construction waste, window frames, doors and kitchen cabinets are not collected. Check the on-site table for your street's exact zone.
Rishon LeZion Garden-Waste Days: One Day a Week per Street, Sunday to Wednesday
In Rishon LeZion every street has one fixed weekly put-out day for garden waste and exceptional waste (scrap and e-waste), and the city collects the day after. In October 2026 we checked all 1,298 streets in the official municipal lookup (my.rishonlezion.muni.il/street-info): 364 streets put out on Tuesday, 302 on Monday, 300 on Wednesday, 219 on Sunday, and only 16 on Thursday; no street has a Friday or Saturday put-out day. So your day is almost always Sunday to Wednesday, but it changes from street to street even within one neighborhood, which is why there is no neighborhood table. Examples from the tool (October 2026): Bialik, Weizmann and Brenner on Monday; Sakharov, HaHagana, Lishansky and HaNeviim on Tuesday; Nordau on Sunday. For about 100 streets the tool shows no garden-waste day at all, including main roads such as Herzl, Rothschild and Jerusalem: there, coordinate with hotline 106. The same tool lists the grey/green trash-bin days, three times a week: about half the streets on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, the other half on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The city publishes no put-out hours for garden waste, only the day. On any other day, garden waste stays in the yard. Soft garden waste (leaves, grass): in well-tied plastic bags only; no glass shards or sharp objects that tear bags. Exceptional quantities require advance coordination with hotline 106 and the area supervisor, putting them out without coordination risks a municipal-bylaw fine.
Petah Tikva: One Fixed Weekly Day per Street (Map on the Site)
In Petah Tikva pickup runs once a week on a fixed day per street, with an interactive map on the municipal page where you search your street and get its pickup day. Municipal limits: up to 5 m³ of garden waste per resident; construction materials, up to 10 sacks only (10 kg per sack max); grass clippings and fallen leaves, in tied bags. Put waste out in the afternoon hours before pickup day, at the road edge next to the sidewalk.
Ashdod: Fixed Days by Quarter (Rova)
In Ashdod pickup runs on fixed days by quarter, per the municipal site: Sunday, quarters 11, 12, 15, 16, 17; Monday: quarters 1, 10, 13, the city center and the southern industrial zone; Tuesday: quarters 3, 4, 6, 9, the marina and the government quarter; Wednesday: quarters 2, 5, 7, 8. Put out between 10:00 and midnight on your quarter's day, at the street edge in an accessible spot; garden waste and bulky items in separate piles, no household trash mixed in; not on promenades or main streets (e.g. Moshe Dayan, Yitzhak Rabin). Large quantities, coordinate in advance via hotline 106; the municipal inspection department enforces.
Netanya: Weekly Rotation by Area, 2-3 Items Max
Netanya runs a fixed Monday–Friday rotation by geographic area; find your address's day via the "My Surroundings" page on the municipal site. The municipal limit: up to 2 bags of plant waste or 2-3 large household items, beyond that you need a private container. Put out the evening before pickup day; leaves in bags only; do not place piles under power lines, near water pipes, or where they block pedestrians and vehicles. Contact: hotline 106, the 106 app, or the municipal WhatsApp.
Herzliya: Fixed Days by Area, Put-Out from Noon the Day Before
In Herzliya pickup runs on fixed days by area; look up your street's exact day by address on the municipal website (note: the city changed its pickup days on August 1, 2026: do not rely on an old schedule). Put waste out only from 12:00 noon on the day before pickup, not earlier. Leaves and grass, in sealed bags only. Prohibited: construction waste (toilets, sinks, concrete, ceramics, drywall), electronics, tires and hazardous materials. Per the municipal bylaw, putting waste out against the times or guidelines carries a ₪730 fine. Hotline 106.
Beer Sheva: East/West Alternating Days, Published Fines
In Beer Sheva pickup follows a geographic split, per the municipal site: the east of the city, Sundays and Tuesdays; the west, Mondays and Wednesdays; the Old City and industrial zones, Sunday to Thursday (as of September 2026). Put out between 06:00 and midnight on the designated day only, in a concentrated spot accessible to a crane and on paved ground only; grass clippings in sealed bags. Absolutely no put-out on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays. The city publishes fines: ₪320 for garden-waste violations and ₪730 for bulky waste. Exceptional quantities, coordinate via hotline 106.
Holon, Fixed Days by Street, Put-Out 9:00–23:59
In Holon pickup runs on fixed days by street, with a street-name filter tool on the municipal site. Put waste out from 9:00 until 23:59 on the designated day; collection happens the next day. Garden waste (branches, grass, leaves): in sealed bags only, not loose; bulky items (furniture, mattresses, cabinets): at the curb without blocking traffic, not behind vehicles or trees. Prohibited: construction waste, household trash, and put-out on holiday eves and weekends. Exceptional waste from a move or major pruning, coordinate in advance with hotline 106. Violations draw fines.
Ramat Gan: Check the Municipal Website
Ramat Gan operates an online lookup for pickup days by cleaning zone (as of July 2026), but the municipal garden-waste page renders only in a browser and no further details could be machine-verified. Check your street's pickup day directly on the municipal website (link in sources) or via hotline 106.
Rehovot: Once a Week per Street, Put Out from 15:00 the Day Before
In Rehovot pickup is once a week, on each street's fixed day, per the municipality's waste and garden-waste page. Garden waste and bulky items go out on the eve of pickup: from 15:00 the day before until 06:00 on the morning of pickup, and at no other time. Per the municipality: up to a third of a skip per pickup, branches no longer than one metre, and grass and light pruning in closed bags. Larger amounts are arranged in advance with the city appearance department, at least two business days ahead, on 08-9392386. (Checked on the municipal site in October 2026.)
Kfar Saba: a Fixed Day per Street, with Changes from 4.1.2026
In Kfar Saba every street has a fixed pickup day for garden waste and solid waste, which you look up in the lookup tool on the municipal site. The municipality changed the pickup days on some streets from 4 January 2026, and residents of affected streets received a text message; if you are going by an old schedule, check again. The municipal instruction: put waste out the day before pickup, from midday, but not earlier and not on pickup day itself. (Checked on the municipal site in October 2026.)
Modiin-Maccabim-Reut: Only on Your Area's Days
In Modiin-Maccabim-Reut garden waste and bulky items may be put out in public space only on the days set for your residential area, per the table on the municipal site (check your area there, or call hotline 106). Place them at the sidewalk edge, in a public parking bay or another visible public spot, leaving about 1.20 m of passage for pedestrians. Do not place them on flower beds, plants or drip irrigation, or next to bus stops and power poles. Construction waste is not collected. (Checked on the municipal site in October 2026.)
Putting It Out Correctly (and Why Fines Exist)
Put waste out only on your zone's pickup day/hours, at the curb in an accessible spot, separate from household trash and not on promenades or main streets. Refrigerator, remove the doors or coordinate in advance. Excess quantity, coordinate with hotline 106 beforehand. Several municipalities explicitly note a fine for putting waste out against the guidelines or on the wrong day.
Better to Sell or Donate
A piece of furniture or an appliance that still works is worth more on someone else's curb. Before you throw it out, consider selling (free with us) or donating. See the links below.
